New Haven Advocate: Gabba Gabba Haze
from New Haven Advocate: Gabba Gabba Haze: “Also part of the loud-and-fast Halloween bill at Rudy’s is the Break-Up (from Brooklyn); Lucid Mike (aka Mike Sembos, doing solo versions of his Superfallingstars songs, plus a few surprises. Mike hasn’t come up with an idea for this year’s costume yet, but last year’s Dorothy will be hard to top); and Dr. Frank , going as the leader of the Mr. T Experience —hey, wait—that’s no costume, he is the singer from the Mr. T Experience! You can thank Mike for that awesome addition to the bill: He noticed that Dr. Frank will be in New York City promoting his new book, King Dork, and ‘bugged him’ to come to Rudy’s. ‘I’m playing mainly so that [Dr. Frank’s] not trapped acoustically between a barrage of amplified loudness,’ says Mike. In addition (no pun intended) to studying math at UConn, Mike’s been busy recording a new Superfallingstars album with producer Michael Deming, plus playing second guitar with the Alternate Routes, who finish up a three-week residency at Bridgeport’s Acoustic Cafe on Oct. 26.”

Hmm.
Songwriting is in the air tonight.
Meg had a pile of books in the hallway, and on top was a collection of Dylan interviews.
I found this exchange from a 1991 interview to be interesting:
You said once that the saddest thing about songwriting is trying to reconnect with an idea you started before, and how hard that is to do.
To me it can’t be done. To me, unless I have another writer around who might want to finish it … outside of writing with the Traveling Wilburys, my shared experience writing a song with other songwriters is not that great. Of course, unless you find the right person to write with as a partner …[laughs] … you’re awfully lucky if you do, but if you don’t, it’s really more trouble than it’s worth, trying to write something with somebody.
